On June 14, 2023, the POLCA Summer School - Pollution in the Coastal Areas commenced at the Marine Station in Hel. Organized by the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, University of Gdańsk, this summer school will continue until June 21, 2023.
The first day of the POLCA Summer School was filled with excitement as participants embarked on their learning journey. The day started with informative lectures that provided a solid foundation for understanding the learning flow during the course. The participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their perspectives and insights.
Participants had the opportunity for participants to explore the scientific and educational activities of the Marine Station. They gained valuable insights into the research conducted at the station, enhancing their understanding of marine ecosystems and their vulnerabilities to pollution. Additionally, the participants had the unique chance to visit the seal sanctuary. This visit not only offered a close encounter with these fascinating marine creatures but also highlighted the importance of preserving and protecting coastal habitats. The experience left them in awe and deepened their understanding of the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems. The lectures provided valuable insights into the challenges of coastal pollution and its impact on the environment.
The day concluded with a delightful cultural evening, where participants enjoyed traditional Polish music and dance. They embraced the opportunity to learn the lively and energetic polka dance, immersing themselves in the cultural heritage of Poland.
Overall, the first day of the POLCA Summer School was a resounding success. The participants actively engaged in the activities and embraced the opportunity to broaden their knowledge.
