What are the virtual Marine Open Elective Modules?
In a joint collaborative effort between the interdisciplinary Master School of Marine Sciences (iMSMS) at Kiel University and the SEA-EU partner universities in Brest (France), Cádiz (Spain), Malta (Malta), Split (Croatia), Gdańsk (Poland), Faro (Portugal), Naples (Italy), Bodø (Norway) we have started to organise a series of Virtual Marine Open Elective Modules last year in order to bring together master students and teaching scientists from ocean-related study programmes of the SEA-EU partner universities.
Maybe you have already heard of it?
You have the chance to connect and collaborate with fellow marine enthusiasts, to get in contact with scientists from different marine and maritime research fields, and to broaden your horizon by learning about current ocean issues from an international, multidisciplinary standpoint. Enrich your studies with an international component at home, benefit from the thematic diversity of our virtual open elective modules and identify your individual field of interest. Get to know people and ocean-related research areas of the SEA-EU alliance and establish first contact for your next (physical) mobility to come - a study abroad semester, an international research internship, a Blended Intensive Program (BIP), or even a joint master thesis project. And last, but not least: Enjoy the open mindset and cultural diversity in global ocean science learning!
We are looking forward to your registrations!
Please note: ECTS gained in the framework of the Virtual Marine Open Elective Modules can be recognised in the electives section of your curriculum (or listed as extra-curricular achievement).
Please get in contact with your study advisor to confirm recognition!
Over the course of 2025, we will have more virtual modules available for you on our SEA-EU website.
Stay tuned!
Best wishes and Merry Christmas from your Virtual Marine Open Elective Modules coordinators,
Franziska & Leah from Kiel University, xx (Name local coordinator(s)) and the rest of the SEA-EU experts’ team.
